Objectives

There is a strong need to understand the predisposing factors and any causation between the at-risk-of-poverty and means to address CoSMo difficulties. There is no conclusive data that we can currently rely on to inform public agencies and policy makers for potential reform, since a study of such scale has never been attempted before. Adding to this, the aging population is expanding and CoSMO problems need to be addressed in a timely manner, in order to reduce frailty among older adults. This is also in accordance with the World Health Organization Decade of Healthy Aging mandates, where progress to improve our care for the older people is proposed by enabling individuals to meet their basic needs, by making informed decisions, being mobile and technology literate to the best of their abilities and building relationships as a contributor. As far as toddlers and families at-risk-of-poverty are concerned, the link between living below the poverty line and lower rates of academic thriving and school completion and behavior problems is well-documented. What is more important, is that we are aiming to provide individuals and families with a potential digital and inclusive tool to address and increase awareness that perhaps would increase their eHealth literacy.

We aim to investigate the extent to which socioeconomic disadvantage, in the form of at-riskof-poverty status, affects Communication, Swallowing and Mobility (CoSMo) status for the two extremes of the age spectrum, and to provide potential avenues for addressing CoSMo in these populations. For individuals at risk of poverty and/or their proxies, the MAP CoSMo program will:

(a) identify potential indicators for CoSMo disorders related to the ‘at-risk-of-poverty’ status

(b) map potential barriers and facilitators for addressing CoSMo issues

(c) provide a potential avenue for timely addressing CoSMo problems, thus facilitating individuals’ inclusion to society by tackling information gaps for the individuals and the stakeholders

Στόχος μας είναι να διερευνήσουμε σε ποιο βαθμό κοινωνικοοικονομικά μειονεκτήματα, όπως ο κίνδυνος φτώχειας, επηρεάζουν την επικοινωνία, την κατάποση και την κινητικότητα (CoSMo) για τα δύο άκρα του ηλικιακού φάσματος, και να προσφέρουμε πιθανές λύσεις για την αντιμετώπιση των προβλημάτων CoSMo σε αυτούς τους πληθυσμούς. Για τα άτομα που διατρέχουν κίνδυνο φτώχειας και/ή τους εκπροσώπους τους, το πρόγραμμα MAP CoSMo θα:

(α) προσδιορίσει πιθανούς δείκτες για διαταραχές CoSMo που σχετίζονται με την κατάσταση «κινδύνου φτώχειας»

(β) χαρτογραφήσει πιθανά εμπόδια και διευκολυντικούς παράγοντες για την αντιμετώπιση των προβλημάτων CoSMo

(γ) προσφέρει πιθανές διεξόδους για την έγκαιρη αντιμετώπιση των προβλημάτων CoSMo, διευκολύνοντας έτσι την ένταξη των ατόμων στην κοινωνία, αντιμετωπίζοντας τα κενά πληροφόρησης για τα άτομα και τους ενδιαφερόμενους φορείς
